Footgolf

The "Desert Pines" footgolf course was built and added to the club’s sports activities in Easter 2017. This 9 hole course is a purpose-built footgolf course set between trees and bushes on undulating ground, creating a combination of a desert/forestall course. You can also play two rounds to get a full 18-holes, which some like to do. Some of the holes feature dual tee-boxes and most holes have alternate playing options.

This activity has proven to be a hit and continues to be occupied every day from morning to evening. It does not require previous experience and therefore is a fun option for all.

What is Footgolf?

Footgolf is comparable to mini-golf but on a much larger scale, the main difference being that you kick a football around instead of hitting a small golf ball with a golf club. The cup on the green is obviously larger than normal, so it can fit a football. The lengths of the holes on our course are between 35 - 95m and divided into par 3, par 4 and par 5 holes. You can play footgolf, like golf, in many variations of formats like singles, pairs, teams – like Stableford, Texas scramble, two-man better ball, etc.

What Do I Wear to Play Footgolf?

Despite some players choose to address this sport in “full-gear” (mostly for fun), you can play this game in your normal clothes. A good pair of trainers is recommended however, since you will be kicking a ball. Maybe not your latest D&G designer shoes!

You can bring your own football (size 5) should you want, but otherwise we have balls available for rent here. You can also buy a ball from our Pro-Shop.

Is Footgolf Family Friendly?

The great thing about footgolf is that EVERYONE can play it. Everybody can kick a ball! You can play together cross ages, sexes and levels. You do not need coaching/lessons to learn how to play – you can get right into it. It is also not weather sensitive - whether it is a warm and sunny Algarvian day or a day with a bit of rain – you can play! This game is a FUN game for all! A great game for the whole family, for golfers and footballers, for company days, stag-dos etc.
